The heart holds court
through days and nights of loving:
the heart holds court,
for children’s hopes and fears,
as mothered mind waits silent,
stands guard throughout the years:
the heart holds court

Not quite a traditional rondelet, but then I did invite people to break the form … smiles
The refrain here is really strong; it opens up a huge number of possibilities and has resulted in a memorable poem, Ros.
Oh, very nicely said!
Very well done — something haunting about it.
Wonderful and scary…
hmmm i think it all comes down to how you read it….the purpose of the guard really….to keep safe or contain….nicely done to form ros
Terrific, loved reading this, not an easy form to manage, well done here, thanks, Kevin
A mother’s heart is ever watchful, I think. I take the message as a positive one.
this brought a lion mom to my mind..watching.. caring but then letting them play as well and find their own way.. mine have that age that they slowly take flight..a good thing..smiles
Your refrain is really strong and memorable.
Excellent and heart-warming!
